Ethiopia's New Resorts During our exciting weeks in Ethiopia, including a tour of the Holy Route via Ethiopian Airlines, we saw signs of major development in tourism facilities, and had the opportunity of interviewing several of the key players. This included a new chain of EcoLodges in strategic parts of the country, and a new luxury hotel resort on Lake Tana at Bahar Dar.   We also spoke to members of a group from the orient, which is involved in a major project at Merkato in Addis Ababa, Africa's largest market. A key investor-developer at this time is the owner of the world class Sheraton Addis Hotel, which is undergoing a multi stage expansion on its site in Addis Ababa. The group is also opening two new luxury resorts south of the capital. These projects are scheduled for completion within a few years. During a weekend trip to the Rift Valley with NTO Tours, our editors had an opportunity to visit this city south of Addis Ababa and look at the area where this attractive resort is being built. Transportation: Ethiopian Airport Expansion: One of the first things we noticed during our travels through Ethiopia was major renovation of Airport Terminals at key locationssuch as Lalibela, Gondar and Bahar Dar. The biggest development is at Bole Airport in Addis Ababa. Commerce Sector: Shopping in Addis Ababa New developments at Merkato, Africa's largest market.
