CORINTHIA
HOTELS LAUNCHES LUXURY SUMMIT SERIES
IN LONDON
WITH LUXURY MARKETING COUNCIL
(November
27, 2012, London) Corinthia Hotels launched a “Luxury
Summit” series organized by The Luxury Marketing
Council, together with media partner International
Herald Tribune on November 12, 2012. The premier event
was hosted at Corinthia Hotel London, the Corinthia
brand’s luxurious flagship property.
The
full-morning luxury summit, A Rising Tide – The Changing
Luxury Market and Customer: Trends, Challenges, Best
Marketing Practices of Top Luxury Brands, focused on the
global market accelerated by technology, political and
economic change. The London event, which attracted more
than 100 high level luxury brand executives, will be
followed by Luxury Summits at Corinthia Hotel St.
Petersburg and in Moscow in March, 2013.
Following
opening remarks by Gregory Furman, Founder & Chairman,
The Luxury Marketing Council, moderator of the event,
and Patrick Falconer, Managing Director, UK, Northern
Europe, Middle East and Africa, New York
Times/International Herald Tribune, the Summit featured
a diverse group of speakers.
Matthew
Dixon, General Manager, Corinthia Hotel London, gave a
compelling presentation offering many insightful
perspectives on customer service and the importance of
moving from a vision of customer service to inspiring
employees to embrace and deliver that vision. Dixon also
defined modern luxury as “time well spent” and noted
that the Corinthia Hotel London has initiated the first
and only 24 hour check in policy.
Other
opening session speakers were Tony Potter, President,
Braveagle; Nathalie Remy, Partner, Apparel, Fashion and
Luxury Practice, McKinsey and Company; and Rebecca
Robins, Director, Interbrand and co-author of
“Meta-Luxury Brands and the Culture of Excellence.”
Remy told
the audience “As luxury players are now facing
increasing uncertainty in the development of some core
growth areas like China's domestic market, the
reactivation of the European consumer is becoming
increasingly important. In order to re-bond with the
European consumer, luxury players should reconsider how
to cater to their specific needs, enhance affordability,
nourish their growing appetite for luxury experience,
and bolster multichannel."
The
opening session was followed by a panel, "The Year So
Far, The Year to Come: Issues and Trends,” Joining the
panel were Lisa Gregg, VP ICS International, American
Express; Michaela Wolf, Head of Marketing & E-commerce
of Georg Jensen; Janet Carpenter, Global Head of
Atelier-Leo Burnett (the luxury practice); and David
Hesketh, Managing Director of Laurent-Perrier UK .
"Our
survey of some of the more than 100 leaders from major
luxury brands attending the luxury summit in London,
was a clear indication that the issues addressed had
practical relevance AND that in London there is a very
strong interest in increasing the frequency of events
such as this. This reflects, and is consistent with the
global trend of luxury brands to stay current with best
marketing practices and creatively engaging in
partnerships and collaborations with kindred spirit
luxury brands," said Luxury Marketing Council Chairman,
Greg Furman, whose members include 1000 luxury brands in
40 cities worldwide.
Since its opening a year ago, Corinthia Hotels’ flagship
property in London has created quite a buzz in that
city’s luxury hotel scene. Corinthia’s 294-room property
boasts the largest rooms in London at 485 ft²; and ESPA
Life at Corinthia, spread over four floors, is the
largest hotel spa in London, becoming a destination in
itself for health and wellness. However, it was when
Corinthia Hotel London unveiled in February 2012, its
exquisite and individually themed collection of seven
penthouses, each two stories with their own terrace
views of London, that the hotel became a real game
changer in the city’s luxury accommodation scene.

FEATURED SPEAKER AT
LUXURY MARKETING COUNCIL IN NEW YORK CITY
(Sept
28, 2012, New York) Matthew Dixon, General Manager of
one of London’s newest award-winning luxury properties,
Corinthia Hotel London, was a featured speaker at a
Luxury Marketing Council (LMC) event held at Haworth on
September 12 in New York City. According to LMC Founder
& Chairman, Gregory J. Furman, Mr. Dixon gave one of
the most compelling presentations on customer service in
the 18-year history of The Luxury Marketing Council: “An
Exploration of How Best Luxury Brands 'Surprise and
Delight' Their Best Customers.”
The presentation consisted of many insightful
perspectives on customer service and the importance
of moving from a vision of customer service to
inspiring employees to embrace and deliver that
vision: creating a culture where “Yes!” is the only
reply to customer requests and human warmth is
implicit in every interchange.
Furman added, “At a time when American Express
Publishing research shows customer service sadly to
be at an all-time, historical low, Matthew Dixon was
a breath of fresh air to the rave reviews of Luxury
Marketing Council members attending.”
Since its opening 16 months ago, Corinthia Hotels’

the hotel became a real game changer in the city’s
luxury accommodation scene.
The audience of luxury brand executives learned that
much credit for the five-star property’s success, in
addition to its authenticity, luxurious product and
location, was due to its “dedication to the
craftsmanship of care and personalized service.” Mr
Dixon further noted, “This service-oriented culture
is the vision and philosophy of Corinthia Hotels’
Founder and Chairman, Alfred Pisani.”
Mr Dixon also defined modern luxury as “time well
spent” and noted that Corinthia Hotel London has
initiated the first and only 24 hour check in policy

include ESPA Life Rush Hour

Matthew Dixon was joined on the panel at the Luxury

Manager, Lincoln Group; Jon Omer, VP

Corinthia Hotels Hosts Musical Evening with Joseph Calleja in
Celebration of its 50th Anniversary
6
September 2012: Corinthia Hotels, led by Founder and
Chairman Mr Alfred Pisani, proudly hosted a musical evening
featuring the world-renowned opera singer Joseph Calleja, as
part of the celebrations to mark its 50th anniversary.
The evening took the form of an intimate recital for 130
guests at the group’s flagship, Corinthia Hotel London.
Corinthia Hotels was founded in Malta in 1962 by Alfred
Pisani. From humble beginnings featuring a small restaurant,
which was then developed into the Pisani family’s first
hotel, the group has grown to nine hotels situated across
Europe and North Africa. Each one has been praised for its
distinctive style, craftsmanship and outstanding guest
service. Corinthia Hotel London, which opened in April 2011,
is the latest addition to the group and has become widely
recognized as the jewel in the crown. The meticulously
restored Victorian building has become a new landmark hotel
in London, with its ideal location overlooking the River
Thames, a stone’s throw from Trafalgar Square and the Royal
Festival Hall. Its seven penthouse suites have received
critical acclaim for their individual design and spectacular
views across the city. The evening’s musical celebration
serves as an expression of thanks towards all who have been
part of the Corinthia journey.
Guests from the diplomatic world, business and arts, invited
for their friendship and longstanding association with
Corinthia Hotels, convened in the hotel’s magnificently
restored Victorian ballroom for the recital by the highly
acclaimed singer, just days before he appears as concert
headliner for the Last Night of the Proms at the Royal
Albert Hall. The outstanding operatic display included
sensational performances of Paolo Tosti’s Ideale, La
fleur que tu m’avais jetée from Carmen by Bizet, and E
lucevan le stelle, from Puccini’s Tosca, providing a
fitting way for friends of Corinthia to celebrate the luxury
hotel group’s prestigious milestone.
Joseph Calleja was born in Malta in 1978. Blessed with a
golden age voice that routinely inspires comparisons to
legendary singers from earlier eras, Calleja has become one
of the most sought-after tenors in the world and has
performed on most of the world’s leading opera and concert
stages, including New York’s Metropolitan Opera, London’s
Royal Opera House at Covent Garden, and at the Vienna State
Opera. A Grammy-nominated recording artist for Decca
Classics, in his new solo recording, Be My Love: A
Tribute to Mario Lanza, Calleja pays homage to the
famous Italian-American singer and actor, whose film The
Great Caruso inspired Joseph to pursue a career in
opera.

Corinthia Hotel London Welcomes HRH The Prince of Wales….and
many more!
25th June
2012 -
You could have never scripted this, not in your wildest
imagination.
The 20th June 2012 was always going to be a special
day for the luxury Corinthia Hotel in London. HRH The Prince of
Wales was invited to tour the hotel by founder and chairman
Alfred Pisani and attend celebrations marking The Prince’s
Regeneration Trust’s 15th anniversary
The Prince's Regeneration Trust ensures that historic buildings
across the UK at risk of decay or demolition are regenerated and
given a new use that will provide economic and social benefits
to their communities.
Corinthia has itself just completed what has been one of the
United Kingdom’s most prominent regeneration projects in recent
years, where an original Victorian-era hotel has been lovingly
recreated as a luxury grand hotel fit for the 21st century.
On Wednesday evening, 20th June, The Prince of Wales
duly arrived to tour the hotel, and was shown around by Mr & Mrs
Pisani, who recalled the opening of the company’s first hotel,
the Corinthia Palace in Attard, itself inaugurated by HRH The
Duke of Edinburgh in 1968.
As if The Prince’s visit was not enough, so much more was
happening at the Corinthia in London. With 100 per cent
occupancy, restaurants in full swing and a flurry of activity
around the hotel, staff members were not only pressed to keep a
close eye on The Prince’s walk through the hotel but had to
contend with a host of other VVIPs staying at the hotel.
In one room, six Middle Eastern Foreign Ministers, some of whom
staying at the hotel, plus their minders and advisors, were
huddled in a grand meeting room, spilling out into every nook
and cranny of the grand foyer for some more private
conversations.
Outside the hotel, paparazzi and loyal teenage fans were lined
up, held back by security, as they awaited not one, but two
American singer superstars to leave their penthouse suites in
the hotel - which has become a second home to countless A-List
celebrities over the past year since the hotel has opened.
The Corinthia in London is now established and considered to be
among the very best in the city. The property has won various
accolades and awards, from some very prestigious organizations.
Above all, the hotel has firmly set itself some astonishing
standards for service, regularly topping surveys and feedback
from high-end customers among the city’s famous luxury hotels.
All in all, a tough day for the staff at Corinthia but a red
letter day nonetheless. Alfred Pisani said: “We approached
the redevelopment of our hotel in London with love, creativity
and humility. We had the best in class in terms of advisors and
designers but above all, our own team has done a great job in
making sure we executed a financially-rewarding acquisition and
project, and likewise, put all our energies and instincts for
hospitality into a structured format for the delivery of
consistent, quality service.”
