CHAPTER NOTES

September 15, 2006

From Marlene Davis, SoCal Chapter, Los Angeles

The 21st Annual African Marketplace & Cultural Faire was a great success again this year.  We had a steady stream of visitors to our booth.  Our chapter has participated in this event, sharing the booth with Black Meetings and Tourism, for at least nine years.

In previous years much of our conversations were with the public who want to go to Africa.  This year it struck us all just how many had just returned or were traveling for first time in near future.  Our volunteers are all veteran Africa travelers and were able to provide good information.

We give special thanks to our volunteers.  They were Marlene Davis, Marilyn Walton, Sylvia and Ron Mracky, Fran Harris, Bill Jones, Mike Madison, Rita Rubin, Carmen Blake, and Edna Davis.  All three weekends (7 days total) were sunny, hot and became windy in the afternoon.

Send us news of your chapter activities.
