world-renowned Cape Gourmet Festival (9-25 May)
annually invites a sizzling cast of internationally
acclaimed chefs to bring their pots, pans and
prestige to its highlight event, the Good Food
& Wine Show, which is recognized globally as
South Africa's premier culinary celebration. See
how an exceptional lineup of top international
chefs from the UK, USA, Italy and India teams up
with an elite cast of South African chefs to pop
the global gourmet lid in the Chefs in Action
Theater to reveal the hottest cooking trends and
savviest secrets. Ken Oringer, chef and
co-owner of Clio Restaurant in Boston and the
world's most popular Chinese cook Ken Hom who jets
between London, France and the USA are among the
kitchen crowd that will enthrall you with exquisite
flavors. Tuscany's celebrated Valentina Harris will
indulgence you with her Italian fare and Indian
chefs Nitin Ramteke and Shashish Hodlur, of the
prestigious Taj Group of Hotels will turn on the
heat with their spicy creations. All international
chefs will descend onto Cape Town, courtesy of
SWISS International Air Lines, who have pledged
their support of the Gourmet Festival in line with

include flamboyant connoisseur and founder of the
London International Wine Awards, Robert Joseph,
who heads the wine front with entertaining
educational tips and talks in the Wine Theater. He
also chairs the all new SWISS International Wine
Awards which will be judged by a panel of local and
international judges, within separate culinary
categories at the Show, with bronze, silver and
gold medals being awarded in each
category. Smaller and lesser-known
wine estates take center stage during the judging
period, which make these awards so unique and set
them apart from other existing wine awards. The
Best white wine from a small boutique
winery, which produces only 150 tons or less
per season as well as the Best red wine
retailing under R50 per bottle will both receive
special awards. The newcomer or lesser-known wine
that has impressed the judges the most at the Show
will receive the Best kept secret award. The
Awards will include a prize for a local winemaking
trainee to attend this year's London Wine Awards
and the winning wines will be showcased under the
SWISS International Air Lines label at the upcoming
London Wine Trade fair. New this year, is the World
of Beer, Ale and Spirits - an interactive forum
where you can learn to taste with the experts or
just linger with a frosty after a hard day's work.
Should you be on the hunt for unique homegrown
ingredients, take a stroll Down Country Lane, which
brings together some of South Africa's finest
small-scale food specialists. Think creamy
farm-made butters, juicy organic produce and
steaming hot bread. With so much versatility,
there's something to tickle everyone's tastebuds in
a thousand ways. From the adults only Oyster
& Champagne Bar, the Whisky & Cigar Bar and
Brandy Tasting Theater, to the vibrant Cheese
Village, demonstrations galore and the Kidz Zone
where food meets fun, this is a food celebration

in a pot, this year the Good Food & Wine Show,
will be a cosmopolitan feast for everybody who
