of Retail Travel Agents. Over 40 Years of Service At
our ATA Congress in Accra, Ghana, I was on a panel with
ARTA's John Hawkes, and the bonds between myself and ARTA
were cemented further. Here is a brief backgrounder: Founded
in 1963, the Association of Retail Travel Agents (ARTA) is
the largest nonprofit association in North America that
represents travel agents exclusively. Its membership is 100
percent professional travel agents. The Association does not
accept travel suppliers or other travel companies as

CANADA Toronto,
Ont: The Association of Retail Travel Agents - Canada (ARTA
Canada) announced its launch with Bruce Bishins as President
and CEO. ARTA Canada is a nonprofit travel agency
association federally incorporated in Canada. It is the
strategic partner of USA-based ARTA and will follow in the
footsteps of that well respected 45-year-old association.

late Fred Fuller of Toledo, Ohio personified the ARTA
organization, being its biggest booster and a solid
supporter of its alliance with the Africa Travel
Association. Getting to know Fred as a friend at ATA
Congresses in Africa, and at the American Travel Market in
Orlando, Florida, I developed a fondness for ARTA and its
sound objectives. Just prior to his passing, we agreed to
make ARTA a prime distributor of Africa Travel Magazine for
complimentary mailing to its 3,600 members.
