Golf Safari on Rovos Rail, the Pride of Africa

This elegant eight-day 2000 km journey Golf Safari takes you from Pretoria to White River in the Lowveld, Manzini in Swaziland, Durban in Natal, Ladysmith in Natal, and Sun City in the Transvaal. A selection of the finest courses in South Africa are brought together in a Kaleidoscope of Golf and scenic beauty combined with renowned game and cultural attractions.

Itinerary Outline: African Travel, Inc. and Rovos Rail have designed another delightful eight-day Golf Safari to entertain the most discerning player. At all venues, we have also planned optional intriguing excursions for the entertainment of our non playing guests.

Your special journey commences from our attractive private station in Pretoria at 10h00 on Saturday morning. Lunch is served as the Pride of Africa winds its ways towards the spectacular Drakensberg escarpment en route to Nelspruit. On Sunday you may play at the White River Country Club or visit the breathtaking Blyde River Canyon, Bourke's Luck, Potholes, God's Window and the gold mining village of Pilgrim's Rest. On Monday, the Royal Swazi Golf Club, near Manzini, in Swaziland has been reserved. For non golfers there is an optional visit to the Ezulwini Craft Market and the Mlilwane Game Reserve e. Our train then departs overnight for Hluhluwe, where on Tuesday we spend our time game viewing in the Hluhluwe Game Reserve and the St. Lucia Estuary.

On Wednesday, golfer's tee-off at the Durban Country Club ranked as one of the best courses in South Africa. Our non playing guests will enjoy a city tour of Durban followed by visit to The Valley of a Thousand Hills.

Thursday includes 18-holes at the Champagne Sports Resort, which nestles at the foot of the imposing Drakensberg Mountains. A guided tour of the Anglo-Boer Battlefields will be a further highlight for our non golfers.

Over nighting on our luxurious train we travel northwards to the Pilanesberg Mountains and Sun City where a full day is to be enjoyed in this magnificent resort with its outstanding facilities. Following a leisurely farewell dinner that evening, the Pride of Africa will arrive on Saturday morning at our exclusive station in Pretoria where your memorable journey ends.
