Rudy Maxa to Speak at THETRADESHOW Consumer Day

THETRADESHOW (Travel Retailing and Destination Expo) partners are pleased to announce that Rudy Maxa, syndicated national radio and television host and associate editor for National Geographic Magazine, will speak on THESHOWSTAGE on the trade show floor on Sunday, Sept. 9, at 2:15 pm. Maxa, sponsored by TravelVideoStore.com, will present "Why We Travel: Tapping Into the Hidden Motivations of Travelers."

"Rudy Maxa draws on nearly 20 years of experience as a consumer travel journalist in print as well as on radio and television to motivate and illuminate travel agents who can profit by understanding the psychology of travelers," said Don Wyatt of TravelVideoStore.com .

Rudy Maxa is one of America's premier consumer travel experts whose writings and radio and television shows have helped save thousands of travelers both time and money. A former Washington Post investigative reporter and life-long traveler, Maxa is host and producer of 65, half-hour shows on public television, "Smart Travels: Europe with Rudy Maxa" and "Smart Travels: Pacific Rim with Rudy Maxa." He is currently shooting his sixth season of shows for public television, which will begin airing in April 2008 with the new title of "Rudy Maxa's World." His was the first series to be filmed entirely in High Definition for public television.

An award-winning writer with National Geographic Traveler magazine, Maxa is known to public radio listeners as "the Savvy Traveler." He co-created and hosted a one-hour weekend show with that title for four years on public radio before beginning his television series. His reporting at the Washington Post was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, and two of his articles for National Geographic Traveler earned him Lowell Thomas Bronze Awards for excellence in travel writing from the Society of American Travel Writers.

"Understanding why people desire to travel is as important as knowing how to facilitate their trips," said Rudy Maxa. "In fact, tapping into the hidden motivations of the American traveler--both leisure and business--can increase revenue and establish a bond with a client that can last generations."

Through his television shows, Rudy has taken more than 100 million television viewers on video tours to exciting destinations around the world.

Alexandria, Va., Aug. 29, 2007 &endash; After a successful inaugural event, the 2nd annual YP Rocks party will be held on Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, at 9:30 p.m. in conjunction with THETRADESHOW (Sept. 9-11, 2007, Las Vegas). THETRADESHOW is proud to be one of the only industry events to host an annual function specifically targeting young travel professionals.

This is one of the hottest evening events at THETRADESHOW and will take place at the brand new LAX Nightclub located in the Luxor. This unique event honors the industry's young travel professionals. All agents and suppliers attending THETRADESHOW are invited to attend to network with their peers and support the future of the industry.

YP Rocks is a free event for travel professionals under the age of 40. There will be a $20 cover charge for travel professionals over the age of 40 and all attendees must be 21 and over. The required dress is casual chic and stylish attire, and a complimentary bar will be available.

"YP Rocks is a fun event and a great opportunity for new and more experienced travel professionals to meet business contacts in a relaxed, pressure-free setting," said Chris Russo, chairman of ASTA's Young Professionals Society. "ASTA's YPS is proud to provide support for this exciting event."

The LAX Nightclub in the Luxor was chosen as the ideal venue because of the dynamic atmosphere. Outfitted in rich, red leather and adorned with oversized mirrors and shimmering chandeliers, the club features an unrivaled décor and top-tier sound system. A swanky dance floor anchors the lower level of LAX and is surrounded by an abundance of VIP tables and a raised DJ platform. Those attending YP Rocks will be among the first to see this new club.

THETRADESHOW Partners Announce the 2007 Destination Exhibitors August 29, 2007 in Events

(ForImmediateRelease.Net) Alexandria, Va., Aug. 29, 2007 &endash; THETRADESHOW partners recently released the list of exclusive destination exhibitors for the 2007 THETRADESHOW held Sept. 9-11 in Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Convention Center. THETRADESHOW assembles the finest exhibitors and agents in the travel industry under one roof for three days of networking and education.

Currently, there are 70 exclusive destinations that will be represented at THETRADESHOW. This is an increase of more than 20 destination-focused exhibitors from 2006. This year, more than 2,200 agents are expected to attend THETRADESHOW. Agents at THETRADESHOW will gather the most current information on the popular destinations their agency consistently sells and learn about new locations, thereby increasing the number of options they can present to clients.

"With so many exciting exhibitors this year, every agent will find exactly what they are looking for," said Roger Dow, president and CEO of the Travel Industry Association. "Exhibitors will have the opportunity to meet with hundreds of agents who are interested in selling their destination. THETRADESHOW puts everyone in the right place at the right time."

While most people think of the beach as the perfect summer vacation destination, agents know that selling the sun and sand to clients is a year-round opportunity. Attendees will find information on the world's most welcoming resorts, secluded beaches and tourist hotspots. Hawaii's Visitors and Convention Bureau, Jamaica's Tourism Board, as well as representatives from Cancun, St. Lucia and the Islands of the Bahamas will attend THETRADESHOW. The US Virgin Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, Puerto Rico and Barbados will also be present. If there is a sunny destination that agents would like to learn more about, chances are they will be at THETRADESHOW.

Agents who cater to the more adventurous traveler will be pleased to learn that Thailand, Brazil, Korea, India and South Africa will all have representation at this year's event. Jordan will also exhibit this year, giving agents the chance to learn about an exciting selling point for the country, the Palace Tombs of Petra, one of the newest "Seven Wonders of the World." All of the information available at THETRADESHOW will be vital for agents who want to keep up with a new generation of travelers who are ready to travel "outside the box."

This year's event has attracted more exhibitors than expected, proof that last year's show was a success. There will be no shortage of valuable information at THETRADESHOW as agents can expect to find the latest literature on: Turkey, France, Greece, Germany, Lyon, Taiwan, Romania, Ireland and Peru, to name only a few. Agents will want to make an appointment with the representatives from all of these fascinating countries and collect the information that will making selling these destinations simple.

Not all tourists want to leave the country, many of them prefer to tour beautiful destinations a little closer to home. Orlando, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Anchorage, Fresno, Atlanta, Pismo Beach, Kissimmee and Niagara will exhibit at this year's show, offering information to agents who wish to better accommodate the more domestic-minded traveler.

Agents, and exhibitors, who would like to enhance their knowledge of the travel industry, network with industry peers or increase their agency's profits, must attend THETRADESHOW. THETRADESHOW is North America's largest travel industry trade show and attendees will leave with a more complete understanding of the travel industry, destinations and products.
