and had attended every ATA Congress. AARP, one of the world's
largest member organizations, today announced it
will host its first ever National Hispanic event,
Feria de la Segunda Juventud (Festival of the
Second Youth), on May 5-6, 2007, at the Puerto Rico
Convention Center in San Juan. With more than
8,000 people expected to attend, Feria de la
Segunda Juventud will offer attendees a chance to
get up close and personal with celebrity speakers,
performers and experience interactive
exhibits. "This
two-day festival celebrates much more than the
boomer and 50+ community -- it's about family,
intergenerational relationships and helping our
members live a full, healthy life," said AARP
President, Erik Olsen. "We're proud to offer
our 1.2 million Hispanic members and the entire
Puerto Rican community an event that specifically
speaks to the Latino community and we couldn't have
picked a better place to launch this than the
island of Puerto Rico." Feria de
la Segunda Juventud is packed full of celebrity
speakers such as Gloria Estefan, Don Francisco, Dr.
Nancy Alvarez, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Don Miguel Ruiz,
and Giovanna Huyke; concerts and entertainment;
panel discussions addressing issues of concern to
the Hispanic community including healthcare,
fitness, and more. Additionally there will be
educational seminars, interactive exhibits, custom
designed tours, and much more with all programs
presented in Spanish with English
captioning. In
addition to bringing a weekend packed with fun for
the entire family, Feria de la Segunda Juventud is
expected to generate more than $800,000 in revenue
for the island's tourism industry according to The
Puerto Rico Convention Bureau. With
approximately 10 percent of registrants expected to
travel to Puerto Rico from the U.S. and Virgin
Islands, there will be a notable impact on the
Puerto Rican economy. "Through
Feria, we're bringing the AARP experience to the
community and creating a new interactive event for
our members," said Emilio Pardo, Chief Brand
Officer, AARP. "We are proud to bring some of
the best programs and services to Puerto Rico in
the areas of health, finance and entertainment and
this event is a demonstration and a celebration of
our commitment to the Latino community." Scheduled
Events Feria de
la Segunda Juventud kicks off with the Opening Show
featuring Don Francisco, and continues with a
variety of fun and informative educational
sessions. Plus, don't miss Puerto Rico's most
acclaimed bilingual culinary expert, Giovanna
Huyke, "Giving Back to the Community" with
legendary golfer Chi Chi Rodriguez, and a "Morning
Fitness" session with Silverio Perez from Los Rayos
Gamma. Additional seminars include "Discover
Your Intimacy" with Nancy Alvarez; and "Favorite
